Happy New Year!!
The start of the New Year brings a time of change for the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Simcoe. We begin 2017 by saying goodbye to our current Executive Director, Lindsay Maurice, and welcoming our new Executive Director, Amanda Giles.
First, we need to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that Lindsay Maurice has devoted to the Club over the last six plus years. The Boys and Girls Club extends their thanks and gratitude to Lindsay for her commitment to the organization and for helping transform the club into a sustainable, community engaged organization. We would also like to thank Lindsay for her instrumental role in the smooth transition of the leadership of the club.
We wish Lindsay the best of luck in her new endeavour managing Retreat Yoga and Wellness here in Midland. We know she will continue to serve the community’s health and wellness needs through this new lens and continue to be a resource for the Club.
To introduce our new Executive Director, we would like to share with our families and community some of Amanda’s journey with Boys and Girls Clubs.
Amanda’s journey with Boys and Girls Clubs began with our location many years ago, where she was a placement student during summer camp. This was where she acquired her very popular nickname Daisy, which, to this day, many of our staff and families know her as. After that summer, she became a Youth Leader at our club, always full of enthusiasm and great ideas. A few years later, Amanda was presented with an opportunity that took her to the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area in Alberta and then most recently to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary.
Born and raised in Midland, Amanda brings great strengths as the new Executive Director as she is well known and connected in the community and shares a passion for working with children and youth. Her experience working for larger Boys and Girls Clubs has equipped her with the knowledge and experience to grow our Club into new areas.
Please join us in congratulating Amanda on her new role and help us welcome her back home to the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Simcoe.
Reminders:
- Please call the Club at 705-526- 6159 if your child will not be attending the After-School Program.
- Now that the weather is starting to change we would like to encourage our members to be wearing indoor shoes here at the Club to avoid bare or wet sock feet. Shoes should be labelled and can be left here throughout the week. We would also like to remind everyone to label their winter belongings (we see a lot of black snow pants and mitts).
- With Winter in full swing, we also wanted to take this time to remind you that on Snow Days/Bus Cancellations Days we are CLOSED. Reminder: we are in the NORTH Zone.
